PIPE DREAM, Ariz. -- Reacting to the overwhelmingly negative attention that has swirled around his pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain's campaign has launched what it has dubbed "'The Anti-Media' Media Campaign Talk Express," which will point out all of the bad things about the media that McCain doesn't like, such as asking fair questions, letting journalists do the vetting his own team didn't do and asking him daily to speculate on his drop-dead date.
"After reflecting back on my interview with Governor Palin, I am deeply ashamed," said Charles Gibson, anchor for ABC's "World News Tonight." "She called me Charlie so many times, it was like we went to hockey camp together. I shouldn't have asked her anything about foreign policy. That interview was like a pig with ... "
Gibson's producer and spokesperson immediately stepped in and ended the interview of the interviewer about his interview with the Alaska governor, who has done exactly one interview since the Republican National Convention nearly two weeks ago.
This reporter was also embarrassed by FAP's sexist, irresponsible, hilarious coverage of Palin until it saw "Saturday Night Live" and Tina Fey gave everyone permission to treat Palin like an actual candidate for the second-highest position in the U.S. government.
Extending an olive branch, the media has promised to cover Sarah Palin the same way it has covered Sen. Joe Biden, offering the McCain campaign softball questions and a free ride on inquiries regarding foreign policy to any candidate who has at least 25 years of experience in the Senate, is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has awful hair plugs.
