Politically, [REDACTED] is seen as a somewhat surprising choice for Obama because of his pro-[REDACTED] abortion stance, his vocal [REDACTED] for gay rights and a long-standing promise to vote [REDACTED] on a Constitutional amendment banning [REDACTED].
"This is an interesting choice, considering that Sen. McCain has in the past referred to [REDACTED] as a [REDACTED]," said [REDACTED], a leading [REDACTED] at the University of [REDACTED]. "For him to go [REDACTED] at this point in the process is a little bit [REDACTED]."
The news of Obama's choice came from David Axelrod, Obama's chief strategist, who is attending the Beijing games and was not afraid to give his name knowing that it would be redacted by the Chinese government anyway.
